Dr. Westlund is a Doctor of Nursing Practice and certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She grew up in a rural town and has always been passionate about improving access to healthcare in underserved communities. For the past six years, she has been honored to serve the Kona community, where it takes creativity and dedication to care for patients with limited resources, and she feel truly blessed to call Kona home. Since 2005, she has served in many different roles in healthcare while also completing nine years of schooling and raising a family with her husband, David. Together they are raising their four active children - McKade, Jossalyn, McGregor, and Nattalyn. She has worked in nearly every capacity of the medical field since 2005, including roles as a Medical Assistant, DEXA Technician, X-Ray Technician, Phlebotomist, office manager and Registered Nurse. Her experience spans orthopedics, urology, ENT, geriatrics, general surgery and cardiology. Each role serving as a stepping stone that built a strong foundation and valuable perspective in patient care.
Jessica is a valued member of the Westlund Wellness and Care team, serving as our billing and front office coordinator. She ensures that patients feel welcomed and supported from the moment they arrive, helping create a smooth and positive experience.
In her role, Jessica manages scheduling, assists with check-in and check-out, answers phone calls, and oversees the processing of insurance claims and collections. With more than 15 years of experience in healthcare administration and 5 years in medical billing, she brings both expertise and compassion to her work. She is dedicated to fostering a welcoming and safe space for every patient who enters Westlund Wellness and Care.
Outside of the clinic, Jessica enjoys spending quality time with her significant other and their six children, creating lasting core memories together. She especially loves reading by the ocean while her sons spearfish and her daughters swim and collect seashells.
Miwa is an important part of the Westlund Wellness and Care team, serving as our Medical Assistant. She is dedicated to providing high-quality patient care while supporting the doctor and helping ensure a smooth and positive experience for every patient.
In her role, Miwa takes vitals, performs EKGs, places Holter monitors, and assists with scheduling, referrals, and updating medical records. With 2 years of experience in healthcare, she brings both clinical skills and administrative expertise to the team. She is also bilingual in English and Japanese, allowing her to connect with patients from diverse backgrounds.
Outside of the clinic, Miwa enjoys collecting seashells at the beach, making jewelry, and doing her nails. In December 2025, she married her husband, and together they enjoy building their life while embracing the beauty of island living.
